Registration and sessions on Thu 25th will be in the Department of Mathematics, Theresienstr 39. The morning session will be in lecture room 113, the afternoon session in lecture room 138. Registration is in the hall just outside these lecture rooms and will be clearly marked. This mathematics building is just about 100m from Hotel Dachs, and a short subway trip from Hotel Occam. This map shows how to get to the building (at the center), with Hotel Dachs in Amalienstrasse, just 2 streets to the right. The closest subway stop is Odeonsplatz, and from Hotel Occam, take the U3 or U6 from Münchener Freiheit to Odeonsplatz (street map for this area). This map shows the layout of the building itself. Number 39 is the middle of the 3 entries and the lecture halls and registration will be on the first floor.
The sessions on Fri 26th will be in the main seminar room of the Department of Informatics, Oettingenstr 67. The seminar room 1.14 is on the first floor on the right hand side if you enter through the main entrance. This map shows the location of our department (mark 8) with a general discussion how to get there. From Hotel Dachs (near mark 9) I recommend to just walk across the "Englischer Garten" to our department. It's a nice ca 15 min walk, shown on this street map: from the left edge, along Schönfelderstrasse, through the park up to the "Institut für Informatik", Oettingenstr. Alternatively, you can take the subway U3 or U6 from Odeonplatz, direction Garching-Hochbrück, to Giselastrasse, and from there take the Bus 54 or 154 direction Ostbahnhof, through the "Englischer Garten" and exit at Tivolistrasse (3rd stop). Our department is the long stretched white building just opposite the bus stop. From Hotel Occam take the Bus 54 or 154 from Münchener Freiheit and exit at Tivolistrasse (5th stop).
Inside the building, go up the first floor, follow the corridor to the right hand side and after ca 30m you'll find seminar room 1.14 on the left hand side. Check out the maps for the ground floor and the first floor, if you wish. Room 1.14 is just opposite the B wing, marked at the map as CIS.
From the airport take an urban train ("S-Bahn"), either S1 or S8, to the main train station. You'll get the right ticket by selecting "4" zones at the ticket machine. Check the map of urban trains and subways for Munich.
From the main train station you can reach Hotel Dachs by taking the subway line U4 or U5 to Odeonsplatz, and from there it is about a 5 minute walk up Amalienstrasse (check this map). Alternatively, you can take the S-Bahn to Karlsplatz/Stachus, change to the tram 27 and exit at Pinakothek. Turn right, go along Theresienstrasse past the mathematics building to Amalienstrasse.
To get from the main train station to Hotel Occam, again take subway line U4 or U5 to Odeonsplatz, change to U3 or U6, go to Münchener Freiheit and from there right down Feilitzstrasse, then left into Occamstrasse (see the location map for Hotel Occam).
Alas, descriptions at ticket machines in Munich are all in German. For most trips in the city just take a standard ticket, by selecting "1" zone. For short distances, up to 2 subway or 4 tram stops, take a short-distance ticket, by pressing "K". From the airport you'll need a ticket covering 4 zones, so press "4". That will cover the entire trip to the hotel.
The banquet will be in the Augustinerkeller, Arnulfstrasse 52. It is a typically Bavarian restaurant and very popular with people who have tried several restaurants in central Munich. We will get to the place by public transport after the last session on Thursday.
Current temperature in Munich is around 0-5 degree Celesius. We had some snow just recently. So, better bring some warm clothing for the trip.
